Overview

A Centrally Sponsored Scheme aimed at supporting ST students in pursuing higher education, including professional and technical courses, from Class XI to post-graduation.

Objective

1. Provide financial assistance to ST students for education from Class XI to postgraduate levels.
2. Ensure timely delivery of scholarships through a robust system.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Applicants must belong to Scheduled Tribes as recognized in their domicile state/UT.
2. Family income should not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh per annum.
3. Must be enrolled in recognized institutions.
4. Cannot receive any other scholarship simultaneously.

Scholarship Benefits

1. Fee Reimbursement: Covers tuition fees, capped at Rs2.5 lakh (engineering) and Rs 6 lakh (medical courses) annually.
2. Maintenance Stipend (Annual):

1. 1. Group I (Professional Courses): Rs 12,000 (Hosteller), Rs 5,500 (Day Scholar).
   2. Group II (Non-Professional Courses): Rs 8,200 (Hosteller), Rs 5,300 (Day Scholar).
   3. Group III (Vocational Courses): Rs 5,700 (Hosteller), Rs 3,000 (Day Scholar).
   4. Group IV (Classes XI & XII): Rs 3,800 (Hosteller), Rs 2,300 (Day Scholar).
2. Disability Allowance: Additional Rs 9,600 (Hosteller) or Rs 7,200 (Day Scholar) annually.

Monitoring & Evaluation

Scholarships disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) linked to Aadhaar.

Dedicated DBT portal (dbttribal.gov.in) ensures transparency.

Periodic evaluations assess scheme performance.

Implementation Process

Applications submitted via state portals or the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

Verification carried out at institute, district, and state levels.

Role of PMUs

State PMU: Manages state portals, resolves grievances, integrates institutions.

Central PMU: Oversees DBT portal, conducts data analytics, ensures accountability.
